A breast augmentation is a surgical procedure to increase the size of your breasts. It is a major procedure, and you will need time to recover afterward. During this period, you should follow your plastic surgeon’s medical advice and be aware of your body’s needs to ensure your best results.

If you are curious about breast augmentation recovery in Spokane, including whether your procedure begins with an en bloc capsulectomy or existing implant removal, Dr. Kai Morimoto will explain what you can expect. We are here to partner with you to ensure that you enjoy your best results and remain comfortable after your breast enlargement procedure.

Immediate Recovery After Breast Augmentation

Our team at KM Plastic Surgery will let you know what to expect during your recovery and address any questions or concerns you may have after a breast enlargement.

24 Hours After Surgery

On the first day of rest after receiving a breast enhancement in Spokane, you will likely feel fatigue and nausea, as well as soreness, sensitivity, and tightness in the treatment area. Bruising and swelling are common, though they will fade with time.

Immediately after your surgery, you will remain in a surgical postoperative room for several hours as the sedation fully wears off. Though you will be able to return home the same day, it is important that you arrange for someone to take you home from the surgical suite and care for you during your first few days post-surgery.

For the first 24 hours, it is common to experience pain. Our care team will let you know how to best care for yourself during this time.

Five Days to One Week After Surgery

During this time, your breast implants will start to settle in place. While it is common to experience pain and discomfort for the first week after surgery, the intensity should decrease over time. Dr. Morimoto will let you know if you can return to your regular routine during this period. You should avoid strenuous activities since they may result in irritation and bleeding.

Following postoperative advice from our care team is imperative; for example, we may recommend massaging your breast tissue to relax the muscles and reduce swelling. This will ensure that the healing process remains optimal.

Long-Term Recovery

In the weeks after surgery, you should notice steady improvements as your body adjusts.

Several Weeks After Surgery

At this stage, you should feel minimal discomfort or pain, and the swelling should be reduced. Bruising may still be present, depending on the type of surgery you had and whether you experienced complications.

At this point, Dr. Morimoto may encourage light exercise, but you should still avoid more strenuous activities. It is often beneficial to continue wearing a postsurgical or front-closure bra to support your healing process.

One Month to Six Weeks After Surgery

Most of our Spokane breast enhancement patients have sufficiently recovered at this point to resume their regular activities. Your breasts should look and feel natural. You should schedule a follow-up appointment with us to ensure that your breast implants are fully healed.

By this stage, patients can enjoy the natural look and feel of their enhanced breasts.
