If you suffer from the signs of facial aging in your eye area—including chronic, permanent under-eye circles, eye bags, wrinkles, crow’s feet, and fine lines—we can help. An eyelid lift in Spokane can restore and reawaken your eyes, giving you a totally refreshed appearance.

An eyelid lift, also known as blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, surgically rejuvenates the eyes by minimizing the signs of facial aging. The eyelid lift expertly and precisely removes excess skin, muscle, and/or fat from the upper eyelids. This procedure may also enhance vision in those who have excess skin on the upper eyelids sagging down to partially obstruct their peripheral vision. Do I Need Eyelid Lift Surgery?

Generally, good candidates for eyelid lift surgery in Spokane have the following characteristics:

  • You are experiencing signs of aging around the eye area, including fine lines, crow’s feet, and wrinkles, excess or sagging skin, chronic puffiness or under-eye circles
  • You feel that the appearance of your eyelid area is affecting your attractiveness, confidence, self-esteem, and comfort in social and professional settings
  • You wish to achieve a naturally youthful-looking, more attractive, and refreshed appearance

What Can I Expect During My Eyelid Lift Surgery?

Your eyelid lift surgery will take place in our Spokane surgical suite under the guidance of board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kai Morimoto. We use a variety of anesthesia techniques depending on patients’ needs and the specific type of surgery used. In most cases, eyelid lift surgery is performed using local anesthesia or light intravenous sedation. Though the eyelid lift surgery itself can be completed in less than a few hours at our surgical suite, we strongly recommend that you take the entire day off of work for your procedure.

Before your eyelid lift surgery, there will be an initial consultation where you will have an in-depth discussion with Dr. Morimoto in our Spokane office about the risks and benefits of the procedure.

All patients should expect some mild to moderate bruising and swelling after surgery, as well as possible blurry vision from the use of eye ointments immediately after surgery. In all cases, you will go home after the procedure, but you should arrange for reliable transportation as you will be unable to drive yourself.

What Is Eyelid Lift Surgery Recovery Like?

In most cases, there will be some mild to moderate bruising as you recover from your eyelid lift procedure. Most patients will heal from the bruising and can return to work within one to two weeks. In general, you can expect a recovery time of two weeks for your eyelid lift. Approximately three to four days after surgery, you will be invited to a follow-up appointment to remove any stitches that you may have. After your recovery period, you can enjoy brighter, younger-looking eyes.

After any surgery involving an incision, there will be a scar. However, we do our best to ensure that the incisions are cleverly concealed in the normal creases and folds of your eyelids. As a result, the scars are generally very difficult to see and appear invisible to the casual observer once they have fully healed.

You should know that while eyelid lift surgery can make you look more awakened and refreshed, upper eyelid surgery does not improve drooping eyebrows. In order to return your eyebrows to their original, more youthful position, a brow lift is generally recommended. Speak to Dr. Morimoto if you wish to explore combining your eyelid lift with brow lift surgery.

  • Apply cold compresses to reduce swelling (an ice pack wrapped in paper towel will also work nicely)
