What is Gynecomastia?
What Is The Procedure Like?
Breast enlargement surgery is done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. It is performed by placing implants through a small incision located just above the breast crease, around the areola, or in the axilla. A pocket beneath the breast tissue or muscle is created to place the implant within. The surgery typically takes 1-2 hours to perform.
What Is Recovery Like?
Minimal activity is recommended following surgery. Dr. Morimoto will place a special binder on the breasts at the time of surgery which is to be worn for three weeks. After the three weeks time, a sports bra can be used. Moderate swelling and discomfort can occur after the procedure particularly when implants are placed beneath the muscle. This discomfort is usually well controlled with oral pain medication.
Reasons To Consider Breast Augmentation
- Lack of breast fullness
- Desire to improve breast contour
- Restore lost volume following pregnancy, nursing, and weight loss
- Asymmetry between the right and left breast volumes
